A five-minute checklist before you send money home

Most delayed transfers are not pricing problems — they are detail problems. These five checks prevent the majority of them.

The checklist

  • Recipient name exactly as it appears on their bank account or ID — no nicknames or initials.
  • Account number, IBAN or wallet number checked digit by digit against a message from the recipient, not from memory.
  • The purpose of the payment, in case we or a partner institution needs to ask.
  • The quote reviewed as a recipient amount, so you know what will arrive.
  • The recipient told to expect the payment, and how they will be asked to collect it.

One more thing: scam awareness

Never send money to someone you have only met online, and never act on payment details that arrive by unexpected email, call or message — confirm them with the recipient on a channel you already trust. No FTFT Pay employee will ever ask you for your password or a one-time code. Our Fraud Awareness policy has more detail.
